|Zardari vows to convince ex-allies over local bodies system|
06 October 2012
President Asif Ali Zardari Friday tasked PPP Sindh leader Agha Siraj Durrani to convince the former allies in Sindh assembly over the new local bodies system.
Except Muttahida Qaumi Movement and PPP, all other parties in Sindh including Sindhi nationalist parties, Awami National Party (ANP), Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q), Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) and Jamaat-e-Islami rejected the new system and termed it as a conspiracy to divide Sindh.
After a meeting of PPP Core Committee, presided by Zardari, the PPP co-chairman said that he will continue his efforts to convince the allies over the local bodies system.
“Violent protests and torching public property will not help the cause of resolving the conflict over the new system,” he said adding that the PPP would actively participate in the by-election of Nowshero Feroz.
On the occasion, the PPP leader Siraj Durrani said that the party would organize a public gathering in Hyderabad to convince people over the new system on 15 October.
