DUBAI: After Australia managed to score as many runs as Pakistan did in the second Twenty20 in Dubai on Friday, the Greenshirts prevailed in the super over to win the match.
Australian captain George Bailey had helped his side recover after a openers David Warner and Shane Watson had put Australia in a promising position.
However, Saeed Ajmal hit back for Pakistan taking two crucial wickets. Abdul Razzaq (one over, two for nine), Umar Gul (four overs, one for 32) and Sohail Tanveer (four overs, one for 30) chipped in as Australia scored 151 for eight.
With the scores tied the match went to super overs.
Australia sent out Warner and Watson to face Gul in their over as they managed to post 11 runs on the board.
Pakistan sent out Umar Akmal and Abdul Razzaq to face Pat Cummins.
Cummins bowled a wide on the penultimate ball before Akmal pushed the ball to cover and set off, getting in just before the return from the fielder came in.
Pakistan made 151-4 against Australia in the second Twenty20 international played at Dubai Stadium here on Friday.
Pakistan, leading the three-match series 1-0, owed their total to 45 each by Mohammad Hafeez and Nasir Jamshed before Kamran Akmal hit a rapid 26-ball 43.
The Australia team though made three changes from the Sharjah opener as they brought in all-rounder Daniel Christian, spinner Brad Hogg and debutant fast bowler Mitchell Starc.
Hilfenhaus, Glenn Maxwell and Xavier Doherty were dropped from the Australian line-up.
Brad Hogg is 41 years and 214 days old and becomes the second oldest player ever to play a T20 international, besides Sanath Jayasuriya of Sri Lanka who was 145 days older than Hogg.

LONDON: Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers voiced his family’s relief after his footballer son Anton was cleared Friday in a sex case at England’s central criminal court.
Anton Rodgers, 20, and three Brighton team-mates were found not guilty of sexual assault and voyeurism.
The retrial, at the Old Bailey in London, followed an earlier trial in which a jury could not agree verdicts.
