ISLAMABAD - The National Assembly on Thursday passed a resolution to endorse and reaffirm the ruling of the Speaker of the National Assembly about Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani regarding his disqualification as MNA.The House passed the resolution tabled by Law Minister Farooq H. Naek, with a thumping majority and amid hue and cry by the main Opposition party PML-N.The resolution said that since the House represents the nation, in a particular way,the Speaker becomes the symbol of the nation’s freedom and liberty, therefore , the principal duty of the Speaker being custodian of the House is to regulate the proceedings and to pass appropriate rulings. The House thus ,hereby, resolves to endorse and reaffirm the ruling of the Speaker of the National Assembly dated May 24th, 2012, in matter of Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, Prime Minister under clause (2) of Article 63 of the 1973 Constitution is within the ambit and scope of the functions and powers conferred upon the Speaker by the Constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan 1973.The House further resolved that the aforesaid ruling having been given by the Speaker of the House is part of the proceedings of the Majlis-e-Shoora (Parliament) and,therefore, cannot be questioned. |  | See Also in Political News
