 | SC resumes hearing of PM contempt case today

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan will resume hearing of the contempt of court case against Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf today (Friday).
A five-member bench of the apex court comprising Justice Asif Saeed Khosa, Justice Aijaz Afzal Khan, Justice Aijaz Ahmed Chaudhry, Justice Gulzar Ahmed and Justice Athar Saeed will take up the contempt of court proceedings. The notices have already been issued to PM for defying the court orders in the NRO implementation case.
Federal Law Minister Farooq H Naek would present the final draft for writing a letter to the Swiss authorities for the re-opening of the graft cases against President Asif Ali Zardari and others.
Earlier, on Sept 26, the Supreme Court while hearing the contempt of court caseagainst the prime minster rejected the second draft letter prepared by the law minster for sending to the Swiss authorities.
The apex court warned the government that contempt proceedings would be initiated against the prime minister if it did not comply with the court orders. However, the minister hoped he would succeed in ending the legal wrangle over graft cases against the president. The apex court said that the draft letter prepared by Law Minister Farooq Naek was unsatisfactory and gave him time till Oct 5 to finalise the letter according to the directions of the court given in paragraph 178 of the SC order issued in the NRO case. | | See Also in Political News

KARACHI: Five more persons were killed in overnight firing and violence incidents in different parts of this mega-metropolis city here, Geo News reported Wednesday morning.
Police said that unknown persons opened fire on a vehicle killing van driver Imran at sector 5-C2 of North Karachi in the vicinity of Khawaja Ajmernagri police station.

MUZAFFARABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will visit Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK) for the first time after being elected PM and having taken over the charge of the office, Geo News reported.
