KARACHI: Pakistan All Stars XI defeated International World XI by six wickets to make a clean sweep in the two- match series of Twenty20 exhibition matches here at the National Stadium on Sunday.
Chasing 143, Pakistan All Stars XI reached the target in 16.4 overs after a formidable 87-run opening partnership between Imran Nazir and Shahzaib Hasan.
Imran smashed a 33-ball 53 with five sixes and four boundaries while Shahzaib made 39 off 31 balls with three sixes and four fours.
Off-break bowler Steven Taylor claimed three wickets for 22 runs for the tourists.
Earlier, Pakistan All Stars XI restricted International World XI to 142-9 in the allotted 20 overs after putting them into bat.
International World XI batsmen made a disastrous start as they lost their captain opener Sanath jayasuriya in the very first over and since then the team could not recover until the last pair provided a great resistance adding 57 for an unbeaten tenth wicket5 partnership.
Number eleven batsman Nantie Hayward top scored with an unbeaten 42 while his partner number ten batsman Adam Sanford remained not out on 14.
Only two other batsmen – opener Andre Seymore (25) and Mohammad Shahzad (11) could get into the double-figures.
For the hosts, slow left-arm bowler Faraz Ahmed captured three wickets for 20 runs and seamer Tabish Khan claimed two for 19. |  | See Also in Sports News

LONDON: Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers voiced his family’s relief after his footballer son Anton was cleared Friday in a sex case at England’s central criminal court.
Anton Rodgers, 20, and three Brighton team-mates were found not guilty of sexual assault and voyeurism.
The retrial, at the Old Bailey in London, followed an earlier trial in which a jury could not agree verdicts.
