 | Mango brings a high-street treat to Lahore 15 September 2012

LAHORE: Hola, Mango! Bienvenido a Lajore! (Hello, Mango! Welcome to Lahore!) was the sentiment on everyone’s minds as the famous high-street fashion house from Spain opened its doors to fashionistas in the city of Lahore. After hearing stories of the raging success of the store in Karachi, the crowd at the event seemed excited and eager on the most part.
However, anticipation was also gripping the hearts of many because most of the international outlets opening in Pakistan have been letdowns so far, with old stock and unimpressive layouts.
Nevertheless, much to everyone’s delight, the launch of Mango’s second outlet this Thursday in Y Block DHA, turned out to be surprisingly good. The quality of the store and its layout transports you to any major retail shop around the world. “I am so happy that they are stocking the latest collection,” said Annie of Alle Nora, who was present at the event. “It’s very accessible, trendy and easy going. That is what makes Mango so much fun,” she adds.
Founded in 1984, the retail chain now has more than an impressive 2,400 stores in 107 countries — dressing the urban and modern woman and meeting her daily needs across the globe. With its right hand competitor Zara usually around the corner, Mango focuses on edgy concepts. Currently, the Lahore store is displaying the new Fall/Winter 2012 collection, offering four different lines: Evening, Suit, Casual-Sport and jeans plus a special collection for Middle East and South Asia, called the Arabic collection.
“We are very happy with the response we are getting in Lahore and we are planning to open the third outlet of Mango in Islamabad very soon,” said Luis Ancillo of the Mango team. “We’ll bring Mango Men and Mango Touch accessories soon as well,” he added.
Frieha Altaf, who manages all brands under AK Marketing said, “What can you say about a store that speaks for itself, not only is the brand good but the price points are accessible as well.”
Hamza Tarar was also spotted waltzing through the store admiring outfits and the different styles showcased. Even though the men’s section hasn’t been launched yet, he enthusiastically stated, “Mango is very Mango! It’s the best and I’m just thrilled that it’s opened up in Lahore, gives one eye candy to say the least!”
Singer Meesha Shafi was also present at the opening, dressed in a stylish Mango dress. Quite pleased with the store she said, “This is fantastic. It makes life so much easier for people who live here to pick out something trendy.” | | See Also in Showbiz News
