 | MQM resolution on law and order passed unanimously in Sindh Assembly

KARACHI: After staging a token walkout from the Sindh Assembly on Thursday, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement on Friday put their concern into words by moving a resolution on the state of law and order in Karachi.
The text of the resolution, moved by MQM MPA Moin Aamir Pirzada, stated:
Of late the incidents of target killing, extortion (bhatta) and brutal murders of those who decline to pay extortion money have registered an unprecedented increase. Only yesterday a trader Abdul Hameed was shot dead near Memon Masjid, MA Jinnah Road, by the extortionists. Such cold blooded murders by the terrorists including extortionists have compelled the business community to go on a shutter-down strike if the law enforcing agencies fail to provide security and protection to the traders and take prompt action in next 72 hours. The House thus resolves and recommends the government to take strict measures against the extortionists and terrorists and provide adequate security and protection to the business community in the larger interest of the peaceful citizens of Sindh.
After Pirzada moved the resolution, several MPAs from the MQM, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) and the Awami National Party (ANP) highlighted the security situation in the city.
Several impassioned speeches were made and MPAs stressed that the violence was not targeted at a single ethnicity or political party but appeared to be across the board. | | See Also in Political News

ISLAMABAD: Muslim League–Nawaz (ML-N) has called for a meeting of its parliamentary party on May 20 here, Geo News reported Saturday.
Sources said that the meeting would discuss formation of governments in the centre, Punjab and Balochistan besides first 100-day plan, relief in load shedding, budget proposals and making alliance with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F (JUI-F) and Muslim League- Functional (ML-F) at the centre.
