Veteran playback singer Asha Bhosle, who was targeted by the MNS for being part of a reality show involving Pakistani artistes, says music is beyond religion and boundaries.
Refusing to directly comment on the controversy about the show 'Sur Kshetra', Asha, who turns 79 tomorrow, said, "I am like an umpire on this show whose job is to take decisions on the field. I don't want to say anything more than that."
"Music doesn't differentiate between rich and poor, religions or boundaries. We applaud whenever we hear a good song," said Asha, who has recorded more than 12000 songs in her over six-decade career.
The Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena had on August 30 issued a diktat to Colors TV channel, warning it to not broadcast the show 'Sur Kshetra' which would feature both Indian and Pakistani vocalists on September 8. It had also asked Asha not to judge the show.

CANNES : A white poodle that plays the part of a blind pet owned by Liberace in the flamboyant biopic “Behind the Candelabra” scooped glory on Friday by winning the Palm Dog for canine talent at the Cannes Film Festival.
