The god of cricket Sachin Tendulkar is there and so is the goddess of glamour Rekha. Javed Akhtar and Jaya Bachchan are also there. So one wonders why seasoned filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, who is very in with the powers that are, refused a Rajya Sabha seat?
Yes, when sources from the capital confirmed to us that Mahesh was asked by some senior members of the Congress party to consider a Rajya Sabha membership, we asked the filmmaker his reasons for refusing this honour.
Talking to us from Sri Lanka, the filmmaker says, "Yes, it is true that I was offered a nomination. I refused because I don't have the aptitude nor do I delude myself that I have something to contribute to that august house."
Mahesh adds, "My work of activism is done for my personal fulfilment. I will not use it as a springboard into that elite house. I have nothing against those who use their social work to find themselves a place in the Parliament, but I will not do it. LAS VEGAS : Pop stars Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift won the big prizes Sunday at the Billboard Music Awards, which also honoured legendary performers Madonna and Prince.
Bieber, who was named top male artist, also performed at the show at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. He also took home Billboard’s first Milestone Award, chosen by fans, for musical innovation and ingenuity.
