Pakistan’s electronic media was on Friday embroiled in a controversy after the emergence of videos that showed two top TV anchors discussing questions and coaching Malik Riaz Hussain, a real estate tycoon, on answers during an interview. The two videos of behind-the-scenes footage, posted on Youtube [Watch Video 1][Watch Video 2], other social media sites, showed anchors Mubashir Lucman and Meher Bukhari discussing questions and rehearsing answers during the interview with Malik Riaz Hussain, a tycoon who has acknowledged paying Rs. 342.5 million to the chief justice’s son to influence cases in the Supreme Court.
While discussing questions with the tycoon, Bukhari is heard saying: “Say what you want…what question should we ask. It will appear as though it is planted…it is, but it shouldn’t appear it is.”

It is everybody right to clarify his position till know I would say that Mr Mubashir Luqman calrification is acceptble. I would like to remind general public that Mr Talat Hussain during his starting career was the person who used to do the planted interview now he has become the champion of fair journalism, however I would say that with few exception all are blongs to same category. |

His explanation is not very impressive. I would like to know why Meher Bukhari stated that 'although the interview is planted, we have to present it in such a way that it does not look planted'. He has stated that why did those journalists, who were shown evidences by Malik Riaz, inform the CJ of the Supreme Court?. My question to him is how could they inform the CJ when Malik Riaz did not give them a copy of the evidence. He only showed them. In fact, he was sacked from Dunya TV. |
