This article is ridiculous. It takes into account a few factors and attempts to make a verdict. First off, they said Indian girl abortion rates are high, but where? Most of the female abortions take place in rural areas, not in cities. The way people treat women is the complete opposite in these 2 areas-- urban areas are rather liberal whereas rural areas are rather primitive (so-to-speak). With that said, is it really that bad to be a woman in an Indian city? They can drive, they can vote, they're treated as equals in the educational and work environment, etc. Also, in the cities, when a person has a baby, they don't necessarily tell you whether or not it's a boy or girl right away-- it comes right before the actual birth, itself.
